Oceaneer Club

The kids’ clubs aboard Disney Cruise Line are one of the cruise line’s most notable features. Our cruise travel agent team and clients frequently report that going to the Oceaneer Club is their children’s favorite part of the trip! This drop-off program allows children ages 3 through 10 to participate in themed activities and interact with characters while you enjoy adult-focused areas of the ship. The club typically operates on sea days from 9 am to midnight and is staffed by specially trained, background-checked crew members. While there, kids immerse themselves in their favorite Disney stories and participate in activities from universes like Star Wars, Disney Princesses, and Marvel. Kids can also design their own rides and participate in other imagineering-style activities. There are even drop-off kids’ clubs on Disney’s private island destinations: Scuttle’s Cove on Castaway Cay and Sebastian’s Cove at Lookout Cay. The same staff operate the clubs on and off the ship, so they really get to know your little ones during the length of your cruise.

While the Oceaneer Club gears toward younger children, tweens and teens have their own dedicated spaces: Edge (ages 11–14) and Vibe (ages 14–17). Disney Youth Counselors also supervise these clubs, and kids are allowed to check themselves in and out.

Rotational Dining

Eating a leisurely three-course meal in the same dining room for 3+ nights with kids can be hard, so Disney Cruise Line designed a system that allows both kids and adults to enjoy mealtimes together. Each Disney cruise ship has three primary dining rooms, and you rotate between the three each night of your cruise. Each location is uniquely Disney-themed. Experiences on the newest Disney ships include dinner-theater style experiences. During your meal, you might celebrate with Anna and Kristoff in Arendelle on the Disney Wish, see sketches come to life, or help the Guardians of the Galaxy save the universe. Another unique element is that your servers follow you each night, providing personalized service where they quickly learn your family’s preferences. We’ve even seen Cast Members cut up food for children during meals so parents can still enjoy a hot meal themselves.

Complimentary in-room dining is also available on all ships, which is perfect for slow mornings or when the kids need a break from the onboard excitement.

Spacious Staterooms With Kid-Friendly Amenities

Disney staterooms are about 25% larger than typical staterooms on other major cruise lines. Most are designed for 3–4 guests, offering extra bedding and storage. Rooms maximize space with pull-down beds and include privacy curtains to separate primary sleeping areas from sitting areas and balconies (which is perfect for some alone time in the room after the kids go to bed). The split-bathroom design is also a hallmark family-friendly feature, as it allows two people to shower and get ready at the same time. There are also fun Disney details throughout the room, so your kids will love looking out for Hidden Mickeys and other surprises in the room.

Entertainment And Experiences

Family-friendly entertainment is what Disney is known for. You will experience Broadway-style shows, water coasters like the AquaMouse and AquaDuck, and theaters featuring first-run movies while on board. Disney characters appear throughout the ship with shorter wait times than in the parks. You can even reserve a Royal Gathering to meet several princesses at once. Because reservations go quickly, work with your cruise travel agent to book this experience early.

The Navigator App

The best way to stay connected with family and friends aboard the Disney Cruise Line is by using the chat feature in the Navigator app. This app is your central source of information, similar to My Disney Experience at the parks. You can view ship layouts, activity schedules, and character meet-and-greet times. The chat feature allows you to message other guests via the ship’s Wi-Fi, making it easy to coordinate plans with your party.
